Poster Showcase for Best Practices & Effective Strategies:
Call for Proposals
A wide spectrum of systems, programs and providers serve families with children prenatal to age 3 in many contexts and settings. All have unique strengths, and often sharing successes at conferences is done by a Show and Tell approach – with providers highlighting the particulars of their work and positive outcomes.
However, in spite of the remarkable variety in high-quality programs for pregnant women, young children and families, there are recurring common challenges. Examples are:
- Bringing new strategies into current service delivery models that support quality services for families, such as reflective practice, trauma- and infant mental health-informed approaches
- Creating effective professional development opportunities for staff training and coaching for new and experienced direct service professionals and supervisors
- Incorporating an “Equity Lens” to address racial disparities in health and developmental outcomes
- Addressing specific challenges/risk factors that interfere with effective program delivery
- Building collaboration and accountability within & across programs
- Identifying Local Cross-Sector Opportunities to Strengthen Comprehensive Services that address health, education and family support needs (e.g., including developmental-, physical and mental health for all family members).
This Conference Showcase will be a 90-minute period, with a set-up similar to a Poster Session as part of an evening reception TBD. This work should be presented in a way that would allow attendees to replicate successful strategies. Therefore, each Showcase presentation will have a common outline:
- Provide a brief program description and evidence of its impact (program formats can be service delivery, training, consultation, etc.)
- Identify a common challenge in serving families and young children
- Describe your successful efforts in addressing that challenge
- Include tools/materials that contributed to your success and describe how they are used (be prepared to share these with attendees electronically)
- Outline your “take-away” message(s) to discuss with conference attendees
