This 15-hour class provides foundational knowledge of infant mental health (IMH) for working with children under the age of three and their families.  Content is based on national and state competency guidelines for best practice. Although inclusive of social workers and clinicians, the field of IMH and this class is interdisciplinary; early intervention and health care professionals are especially welcome.

Designed for a range of professional disciplines, this 5-week, 10-hour training series will provide a solid foundation for infant/toddler development. This training will combine Deep Dives into major developmental domains plus reviews of typical progressions highlighting one age range per week.

Delivering maternal and child health and early education services through a home visiting model provides a unique opportunity to step into a family's world and connect your services to their needs. This one-day training will introduce the joys and challenges specific to providing services in the home. Home Visitors will explore how they can CHEER on families through their roles of Coach, Health/Early Childhood Educator, Empowerer/Advocate, Example, and Resource Broker while meeting their program's goals. Throughout the day, participants will also learn ways to keep themselves physically and emotionally safe and well.

The time for each session is 9:00 am - 4:00 pm Central Time (10:00 am - 5:00 pm Eastern Time; 7:00 am - 2:00 pm Pacific Time; 8:00 am - 3:00 pm Mountain Time). It is designed for those who wish to gain knowledge in the basics of breastfeeding and lactation management and use strategies to increase initiation and duration rates. This course is intended for nurses, home visitors, doulas, and community-based health educators.

This course is based on the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative, with content geared toward community-based providers. The course meets the standards of USBC Core Competencies in Breastfeeding Care and Services, WHO/UNICEF, and Florida Healthy Start training requirements. 

Course Requirements

Participation in all LIVE sessions.
Participants will be required to pass an online posttest after completing the training.
Computer access with audio, video, internet access, and familiarization with Zoom.
A doll, stuffed animal, or infant model 20-25 inches in length.
Participants must read The American Academy of Pediatrics New Mother’s Guide to Breastfeeding (4th. Edition) prior to the start of the first session. This book, along with other training materials, will be mailed to participants 2 weeks prior to the training.

Virtual Using the Partners "Let’s Explore!" Developmental Activities Training

Learn how to use the Partners "Let’s Explore!" Developmental Activities curriculum supplement to plan and share engaging, individualized parent-child activities with families. This three-hour interactive workshop addresses some of the difficulties home visitors face when engaging parents in interactive learning activities, introduces the various components of the "Let’s Explore!" activities, and guides participants through using them on home visits and in group settings.

Virtual Partners for a Healthy Baby & the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework Training

This three-hour interactive workshop is designed to connect the dots between the Partners for a Healthy Baby curriculum and the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework (ELOF) for Early Head Start home-based staff. In this training, participants will explore Office of Head Start and Partners ELOF-related resources, and learn how the Partners curriculum aligns with the ELOF and how it can be used to support families in the home-based option.
